A Gradiometer-Based Superconducting Flux Qubit

A successful superconducting flux qubit has not yet been demonstrated. We show theoretically that a flux qubit containing one or more gradiometer loops has major advantages in terms of noise immunity, independent controllability in Sx and Sz , and analyzability, which should facilitate progress towards a successful demonstration of the flux qubit.
